WELCOME TO POST 8947 LOUISA COUNTY POST

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Commander's Corner

Commander Howard “Rob” Robertson

Welcome to VFW Post 8947, where our mission is simple: to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans by continuing to serve.

My name is Howard "Rob" Robertson, and I’m proud to serve as the Commander of this Post. As a group of veterans, family members, and supporters, we work together to make a meaningful impact here in Louisa County. Whether you’re a fellow veteran, the loved one of someone who served, or a neighbor looking to give back — there’s a place for you at Post 8947.

Our Mission at Post 8947

We are committed to:

  • Supporting local veterans and their families
  • Promoting patriotism and honoring those who served
  • Giving back through community service and events
  • Mentoring youth through scholarships and patriotic programs
  • Offering fellowship and a place for veterans to connect

Our Goals for the Year Ahead

As Commander, my focus is on:

  • Expanding outreach and veteran assistance
  • Growing membership in both the Post and Auxiliary
  • Hosting more community events and family-friendly gatherings
  • Enhancing communications through our website and social media
  • Increasing support for youth programs and local schools

The VFW Auxiliary

We’re also proud to have an active VFW Auxiliary at Post 8947. If you are a spouse, parent, child, grandparent, or sibling of an eligible veteran, you may be eligible to join. The Auxiliary works hand-in-hand with the Post to support our shared mission.

Get Involved

If you’re a veteran who served in a combat zone, we invite you to join our ranks. If you’re already a member — thank you. And if you’re a community member who wants to help, we welcome your support.

Together, we can ensure that no veteran is forgotten and that the legacy of service continues right here at home.

If you have any questions or want to get involved, feel free to reach out to me directly.
