SSG Howard C. "Rob” Robertson III proudly served 20 years in the United States Army as an Infantryman, retiring in 2022. His distinguished military career included assignments in Korea, Schofield Barracks (Hawaii), Pennsylvania (as a recruiter), Fort Drum (New York), and Fort Polk (Louisiana).


A veteran of multiple combat deployments, SSG Robertson served in Iraq (2007 and 2008–2009) and Afghanistan (2011–2012 and 2017–2018), where he consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to his fellow soldiers.


Among his many awards and decorations are the Master Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Rappel Master designation, and the U.S. Army Recruiter Badge. His service has also been recognized with the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, two Valorous Unit Awards, and three Meritorious Unit Commendations.


Now serving as the Post Commander of VFW Post 8947, SSG Robertson continues his commitment to service by supporting fellow veterans and strengthening the bond between the post and the local community. His leadership is guided by a deep sense of duty, honor, and pride in those who serve and have served.
