CW3 Michael D. Slagle proudly served over 12 years in the United States Army as an Aviator, entering active duty in 2005 and separating in 2017. His distinguished military career included flight training at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and duty as a CH-47F Chinook Pilot and Instructor Pilot, culminating in his final assignment at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

A veteran of multiple combat deployments, CW3 Slagle served in Afghanistan (2010–2011, 2012–2013, and 2015), where he consistently demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication flying in a designated Imminent Danger Pay Area.

Among his many awards and decorations are the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge. He is also a qualified High Altitude Mountain Aviator and completed advanced training including CH-47D/F Aircraft Qualification and SERE School.

Now serving as Quartermaster of VFW Post 8947, CW3 Slagle continues his commitment to service by ensuring sound financial stewardship for the post and supporting fellow veterans in the local community. His leadership is guided by the same discipline and attention to detail that defined his career in Army Aviation.
